PCB Materials: Selection and Application Guide

Printed circuit board (PCB) is the core of electronic equipment, and choosing the right PCB material is crucial. This article will explore PCB material selection and application guidelines to help you make informed decisions when designing your circuit board.

 

1. Common PCB materials

Common PCB materials include FR-4, FR-2, FR-1, metal substrates, flexible PCBs and ceramic PCBs. Each material has its specific application scenarios and characteristics.

 

2. FR-4 fiberglass composite material

FR-4 is the most common PCB material and has excellent insulation properties and heat resistance. Suitable for most applications including consumer electronics, communications and industrial control equipment.

 

3. Metal substrate

Metal substrate PCB has excellent heat dissipation performance and is suitable for high-power applications such as LED lighting and power modules.

 

4. Flexible circuit board

5. Ceramic PCB

With the increasing awareness of environmental protection, it is crucial to choose materials that comply with environmental standards such as RoHS and REACH.
